Masterclass with Carolyn Hepburn

Social Issues in Documentary Filmmaking

Producer Carolyn Hepburn is at the top of her game, having garnered awards for documentaries that have already made history and have touched thousands of people. Her filmography touches on a variety of issues, from the the hilarious criminal mind behind “Art and Craft” (2014) to the entirely unexpected, yet oh-so-touching “Life, Animated” (2016). But the film that has made the most noise has got to be “3½ Minutes, Ten Bullets ” (2015), about the fatal meeting between an African-American teen and a racist adult that shook America to its core. Hepburn with share the necessary tools to build an unshakeable factual film, while she will also speak to the devastating consequences of racist violence, as well as the often futile battle for justice in a chaotic system – two subject-matters that have become focal points for several documentaries in the past few years.

The event in Athens is exclusively reserved for students of the Communication & Mass Media Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
