93Queen
In the Hasidic enclave of Borough Park, Brooklyn, where Emergency Medical Services corps have long been the province of men, Ruchie and a group of determined Hasidic women are risking their reputations by deciding to provide dignified emergency medical care to Hasidic women and girls. “93Queen” follows the launch of Ezras Nashim, an all-female EMS organisation, and observes the highs and lows of going against the patriarchy, as well as the women’s struggles to “have it all” as wives and mothers. In a society where most Hasidic women don’t even drive, how do female EMTs even get to the scene of an emergency? And how does Ezras Nashim combat their male counterparts, Hatzolah, who possess political clout not only in Borough Park, but throughout NYC?
