Twinsters

In February 2013, Anaïs Bordier, a French fashion student living in London, stumbled upon a YouTube video featuring Samantha Futerman, an actress in Los Angeles, and was struck by their uncanny resemblance. After discovering they were born on the same day in Busan, South Korea, and both put up for adoption, Anaïs reaches out to Samantha via Facebook. Raised on different continents, the two girls start investigating this unlikely coincidence with mixed feelings, that range from shock to disbelief and, eventually, uncontrollable excitement, when they discover what they suspected all along: they are twin sisters who were separated at birth! Co-directed by Futerman herself, “Twinsters” documents Samantha and Anaïs’ journey into sisterhood, witnessing everything from their first meeting, to their first trip back to Korea, as they try to make up for lost time. Affectionate and thoroughly moving, the film explores the meaning of family and connection through an incredible story that would have been impossible just 10 years ago without YouTube and Facebook.
